Bookstores are my little slice of heaven, and I have been a fan of Barnes & Noble since high school. There were times that I would go there and browse the bookshelves for hours – on a Friday night. I mean, I wasn’t a total nerd in high school, but that was time well spent! Barnes & Noble has remained one of my favorite places, and I have passed that love on to my children. My husband and I even go on dates there. To say I like their store is an understatement.

There There

Every year, they handpick books and authors for the Discover Awards. This contest has been around since 1990, and booksellers meet throughout the year to discuss new talent, inspiring voices, intriguing stories, and compelling authors. These are added to their Discover New Authors selections, which you may see in their stores; at the end of the year, these selections are narrowed down into 6 finalists. These finalists share over $100,000 in award money and wait to see who will be selected as the annual winner.

A Place for Us

The 2018 Discover Awards finalists were revealed! The winner will be announced on March 6, but in the meantime, you can shop Barnes & Noble and these authors here. I have several of these books on my to-read list, so now is a perfect time to snag a copy and get reading.

Click below to see the finalists, or click on any of the images to go to the site and purchase. I cannot wait to read “Educated” by Tara Westover and “A Place for Us” by Fatima Farheen Mirza.

Which of these books have you read? Any you want to read?
